About

Like many people wanting to work in the music industry, Darryl Weeks’ first music-related job was at a record store.  As Marketing Supervisor at the HMV Superstore in Toronto, he ran in-store performances and autograph sessions.

Weeks then moved on to one of Canada’s leading distributors, Outside Music. There he was employed as an in-house publicist for a number of Outside’s distributed labels including Warp Records and Domino Recording Co.  In that time he worked with international acts like Arctic Monkeys, Maximo Park and Jamie Lidell.   After five years at Outside Music he founded StageFright Publicity, which is in its seventh year offering full-service media relations in Canada for domestic and international recording artists and record labels.

StageFright Publicity’s current roster includes Grizzly Bear (Warp) Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar) TOY (Heavenly/Cooperative Music) Beady Eye (Beady Eye Records/MapleMusic Recordings) Paper Bag Records (Austra, Elliott BROOD, Cuff The Duke, Woodhands, PS I Love You, Winter Gloves, Slim Twig, The Acorn, Born Ruffians, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Young Galaxy, The Luyas.)
